Chenlu
Chenlu
Dawn is not awake. The dew has already become a pearl.
Chenlu uses saltwater pearls, principally large South Sea whites. We look at nacre, lustre and orient, not at the slogan of a perfect circle. Rose, silver or a faint gold orient should move across the surface. Bleaching, dye or irradiation, if ever present, must be said before the piece is discussed. The collection’s default is undyed white.
The pearl is there to soften metal, not to crowd the neck. One sufficient pearl is closer to morning than ten hurried ones. Size is recorded in millimetres.
Read lustre and nacre, in millimetres. Undyed is the default. A pearl ages; care is the inheritance, not a promise of permanence.
