Yushanxue

Yushanxue

Cold and clear, at the last ridge.

Yushanxue is cornflower: a velvety blue that does not go grey in daylight and does not slide into ink. Kashmir is a laboratory sentence, not a brand adjective. We may say the hue is cornflower. We do not announce an origin on behalf of SSEF or Gübelin. Heat is written as fact.

Blue stays cold, gold stays warm, and they meet only at the edge.

Cornflower blue, sapphire only. No diamond macro on this page. Origin is not announced by the maison.

Light

Yushanxue is corundum, not jade. The blue comes mostly from iron and titanium. Cornflower should stay cold: not grey in daylight, not ink in shadow, not suddenly green. People borrow the name Kashmir for this blue. A place-name is expensive because few stones and few laboratories will sign it. The page answers for hue only.

Side light is more honest than a lamp from above. A top light washes the table into an advertisement. Side light cuts the zones, so you can see whether the blue comes from inside or floats on the kindest layer. Blue that floats thins when the stone turns.

What must be separated here is heat, not diamond fluorescence. Heat can even a blue and can also erase a zone. An erased zone is quieter, not necessarily more beautiful. No indications of heating is precious and dangerous: the instrument did not see evidence this time. That sentence belongs to a certificate, not to a specification pretending the test has already happened.

The name is a snow line of blue, not white jade and not snow-cotton. Jade belongs to Yunxiu. Lamp-box blue that turns grey at a north window is not kept. Inclusions are not an origin.

Making

The seat stays low and the prongs stay short. Gold that lifts the blue turns it into a badge. The tip of a prong covers only what the girdle needs. From the side, the metal should not outgrow the stone’s light. A flat prong draws a second highlight across silk and cuts the blue.

Pavé is not used to make cornflower a background, which is the language of clothing. If one small diamond is required as a stitch, it stays well clear of the stone’s path. An invisible rail is not the default. Sapphire is hard enough, but zones and inclusions often refuse to be ground into a hidden track.

Polish stops at the edge. The table may take light; the facets near the prongs stay a little matte, so the metal does not wrap the stone like goods. Champagne gold meets the blue only at the rim, and only as wide as the eye can just feel. These are workshop rules. Claw count and gold weight belong to the object in the salon.

The hoop may be slightly thicker against the finger and must withdraw under the table. Earrings do not hang a second tier. Any later polish, prong or base is written down.

Keeping

What is collected is not a rate of return. An auction reads treatment, hue, proportion, provenance, and whether any laboratory was willing to name a place. Without that report the blue can still be excellent. It cannot be told as a valley. Calling a mood Kashmir is the usual trespass, and the easiest sentence to undo later.

What should travel with it is the heat line, the measurements, and whether the setting was later moved. The sapphire is not hurt by perfume. The prongs tire. Keep it apart from a diamond’s edge. If a later certificate is stricter, the description should be able to change. A convenient forever is only copy.

If two reports disagree on heat, both are kept. The prettier one is not adopted as the house’s attitude. A later price is not a promise. Without the cold blue, the low seat and an unedited certificate, it does not need this name.
