Diary

The diary does not record output, or who came. It records a refusal, a drawing put away, a stone kept under the north light, and a design set aside because of one zone of colour. A day on which nothing can be refused is a day the atelier has not opened. A quiet season is itself an entry. An empty bench is not filled with a photograph.
